The Power of Symbols:
Signs are probably the most prevalent form of communication around the world, but sometimes symbols do the opposite and create a communication barrier. Throughout our lifetime, we’ve all seen a symbol and wondered the true meaning behind it or perhaps we think we know but unbeknownst to us, we’re far from the truth. Symbols normally consist of pictures or drawings that represent particular things through association, resemblance, or convention. We can trace symbology back to the pre-historic era, when humans devised them as a sophisticated form of languages to converse in.
It was then when symbols were birthed, as a form of communication or a sign of presence to anyone who was a part of that society or organization. As for the non-members, I’m sorry but the symbols naturally served as encrypted representation of the messages to help protect their meaning, society, and or organization. Humans aren’t the only ones who encrypt symbols and messages. Time can encrypt on its own, for example when civilizations come to end, symbols and languages become impossible to understand for the new population. The Egyptian Empire is a great example as only a few experts today know how to translate their symbols or hieroglyphs into today’s languages. Even in Egyptian times, the general public had no clue as to what the symbols actual mean. Humm. . . perhaps the ones that do know are protecting some sort of knowledge?
Anyways, before delving into further depths of the topic, it is important to first understand the meaning of symbols. Symbols are usually confused with signs, and many people use both the terms interchangeably. However, this is a fallacy. Symbols are more imaginative and subjective than signs; they also have psychological value attached, and they heighten the significance of the image portrayed.
Symbols have a very rich history, they have survived through time and ages and still they have discreetly managed to find their way into modern society. Since the Middle Ages, symbols have represented such things as the significance of human life, the mysterious nature of the divine, magic ritual tools, and means to honor the gods and even fight off evil. In the Renaissance period, symbols went underground and lost their mainstream glory and power to science and logical reasoning. Symbols are still strong. Today, they are back in the limelight, permeating our subconscious minds and influencing society.
Symbols are powerful because they can possess a multitude of simultaneous meanings. They have immense power over feelings and emotions of mankind, and have the ability to influence moods and thinking. Why this happens, is a question often asked. Keep reading below for more insight into the mystery:
- Symbols impact the human senses. It is believed that the real power of intangible forces multiplies when it is manifested in tangible objects, because they provide a link to the “physical reality” or “physical association” to the unseen forces.
- It has been found that the intangible forces can build connections and associations with one’s thoughts, emotions and memories. These thoughts have their own associations with other (possibly unique) feelings, memories of events and actions. When one comes across a symbol, it stimulates one or more of these senses which creates some sort of a chain reaction (which goes a long way!) activating many different sensations, and cascading the final effect. This is what grants so much power to symbols.
This is also why we believe in the power of wearing symbols and even traditional alchemy symbols, to help you reconnect with the forces that bring out the best version of you. By using the physical representation of the lotus flower in our Belly Button Ring, you can experience a rebirth and transformation, much like a lotus flower that rises from the mud, blooms out of darkness and radiates into the world. If your call is to reconnect and heighten your awareness of all of the astrological characteristics or gifts you possess, you can do so through the building blocks of Gaia or earth.
Regardless of your zodiac sign, you can practice mastering all elemental characteristics through our Earth Element Symbol Belly Button Ring, Fire Element Symbol Belly Button Ring, Water Element Symbol Belly Button Ring, and Air Element Symbol Belly Button Ring. Remember the intangible will always finds its way into the tangible which makes symbols an essential part of individual expression and empowerment.
